Christmas

We celebrated our first Christmas as a family of three this year. She is such a little blessing to our family, and Christmas was much more fun having her around. We were able go back to Utah to spend time with family for 2 1/2 weeks. Lacey was able to meet all of her grandparents (she has 6). This year, Christmas was really laid back. Lacey is too small to really understand much about Christmas or presents. The fact that we traveled by plane also limited how "big" our Christmas could be.
Great Grandma and Grandma (My mom and her mom)
Lacey loved her cousin Tyler
Grandpa (My dad)
Uncle Jason and cousin Rayne
Nana Cat
Aunt Kelci and Uncle Matt
Uncle Bryce (He kept kissing her forehead, so cute)
First Christmas
Grandma (Scott's mom)
Lacey was a trooper on both flights, the only time she cried was when we were going through security on the sway home.

We did our own little Christmas for Lacey when we got home because we didn't have the space to bring anything to Utah for her to "open"

A few traditions:

Every year growing up, I remember making gingerbread houses with my mom. She would let each of the kids in my family invite a few friends over and we would each build our own gingerbread house. My mom would spend days baking the gingerbread and cutting it the houses for our parties.  Now that all of us are adults, it has been a few years since we have gotten together to build houses. Since we are starting to have kids of our own, my mom decided to start doing the party again for the grandkids.

Scott's family always does new Christmas pajamas on Christmas Eve. It was fun having Lacey and her cousins all get the same jammies.

2 months

Two Months

Two Month Stats:

Height: 21.5 inches (9th percentile)
Weight: 8 lb 11 oz (2nd percentile)
Head: 38.5 cm (54th percentile)

Clothes: Newborn onesies still fit her great, but all of the pajamas with feet on them are too short for her and she can't extend her legs all the way.

Sleep: She usually will sleep 4-5 hours in the first stretch, and then usually wakes up every 2 hours to eat until we are up for the day. Luckily she usually eats and then goes right back to sleep.

Milestones: She started smiling all the time this past month, and we even got to hear her laugh a couple times. She has started trying to bat at objects, but we aren't really sure if it is intentional or not. She loves eye contact and smiles at us when she sees us.

Firsts this month:
  • She laughed for the first time just a couple weeks ago. It seriously was the best sound that I have ever heard. (I might have even cried a little)
  • She had her first Christmas.
  • She went on her first flight.
  • She went to her first gingerbread house party.

Likes:
  • Her momma, she is definitely a mommy's girl
  • Nursing to sleep
  • Being held while sleeping
  • Her hands, they are always in her mouth, even when she is trying to eat
  • Smiling at her mommy and daddy
  • Getting kisses all day long from her mommy and daddy
  • Getting her diaper changed, she is usually all smiles when we change her
  • Her swing, she follows the monkey mobile around and around with her eyes
  • The sound of the shower, which is great for me!
Dislikes:
  • Getting dressed
  • Being in her car seat
  • Letting her mom eat without holding her

She's already 1 month

All about Lacey's first month

I cannot believe that our beautiful little girl has been here for a full month already. This has been the fastest month I have ever experienced. Although she is still so small, it feels like she has grown so much since she was born.

One month stats:

Height: 20.25 inches (10th percentile)
Weight: 7 lb 11.5 oz (8th percentile)
Head: 36.5 cm (54th percentile)
Clothes: Still fits in newborn size clothes and is still too small for any of her bigger clothes. She is still in newborn diapers, but we're thinking she will be in a size 1 diaper pretty soon.
Sleep: She usually will sleep 4-5 hours at a time during the night, but there have been a couple rough nights.
Milestones: Looking at our face instead of the wall, will follow us with her eyes and head, just starting to coo when she's awake, her legs can hold her weight for a couple seconds.

Firsts this month: (Everything)

Lacey's first holiday, other than her birthday, was Halloween. We were still in the hospital for most of Halloween, so we didn't dress her up. We also got to celebrate her first Thanksgiving during Lacey's first month.
Thanksgiving 2014
She had her first bath, which she wasn't too thrilled about. She loves to take them now.

First Bath

She had her first visitor from out of town. Grandma Susie came to visit all the way from Utah.

Likes:
  • Foot rubs, shushing, her binky, and getting her head rubbed when she is fussy
  • Her momma, she is definitely a mommy's girl
  • Eating, if she is awake she usually thinks that she wants to be eating
  • Her hands, she just found out that she can suck on them, and they are always in her mouth, even when she is trying to eat
  • Staring at her mommy and daddy, or at our wall with all our pictures
  • Getting kisses all day long from her mommy and daddy
  • Having her hands above her head when she's asleep
Dislikes:
  • Getting her diaper changed in the middle of the night
  • Getting dressed
  • Being in her car seat when it's not moving
Things I want to remember:

  • When we were still in the hospital Lacey had a hat that said "new arrival on it" but the font on it made it look like it said "new arrwal". Scott started calling Lacey Annabelle Arrwal for some reason and we still sometimes refer to Lacey as annabelle as a joke.

  • Scott and I both were so happy the first time Lacey pooped. Scott even cried a little he was so glad.

We can't stop staring at her, isn't she perfect?

One of our neighbors out here is a photographer and we had her do some newborn pictures of Lacey. We love them! These were taken when she was 8 days old.

We loved having Grandma come!

Time has gone by way too quickly and I'm a little behind on blog posts. Now that Lacey is here and our lives now revolve around her I am sure the majority of our blog posts will be all about her.

My mom was able to come out a couple of days after Lacey was born to help out. I couldn't be more grateful for her! I don't know how I would have gotten through the first week without her. The first few days were rough with trying to feed Lacey while we waited for my milk to come in. It was great having my mom here to help with the feedings and diaper changes while I pumped or got other things done. Now that she is gone I miss having someone here to hang out with all the time. My mom is one of my best friends and I hate that I only get to see her once or twice a year. I was so sad to see her leave and glad that we are going home in a few weeks for Christmas.

We love you Grandma Susie!

Family of Three

Our family isn't just Scott and I anymore, we are a family of three. Scott and I cannot believe that we have a daughter. We're parents, and we are absolutely loving it. I was a little nervous about how I would adjust to being home all day and not going to work like I have for the last 10 years of my life. The last 2 weeks have flown by, and I have loved every moment of it. Scott and I just stare at her and are in awe of how amazing she is.

Lacey has been the perfect addition to our little family. She is absolutely amazing. She sleeps like a rock, just like her daddy. She is such a happy baby and pretty much the only time she cries is when she is hungry. I cannot believe that she is ours.. to keep.
